About
My name is Mila Lazich
I am a student studying Sports Media at Indiana University Bloomington. I specialize in Broadcast Journalism, but I enjoy all aspects of media. I work with Adobe softwares, social media accounts, and marketing. I love sports and the community behind it. It is a great way to gather with friends and family to enjoy a common passion/team. I am very outgoing, coachable, honest, and not afraid to be myself.
I have two brothers who sparked my love for sports. They are why I am pursing this career. I used to do the play-by-plays for my brothers football games and it was an amazing experience for us both. It was an important milestone in my life and gave me something I was truly passionate about, it made me realize what I wanted to do with my life.
My dad is also a huge influence in my life. Growing up I was a competitive dancer. The long hours did not let me pursue other activities. I remember on my days off, I would watch whatever sporting event was on with my dad. It was a way for us to bond when we saw so little of each other throughout the day. We would talk about the event and talk about the announcers/media behind it all. It's those moments I will never forget. He was the one who signed me up for my play-by-play gig, and I will forever to grateful for that.

My Major and Career Goals
I am majoring in Sports Media with a focus on Broadcast Journalism. I chose this field because of my deep passion for sports and my desire to engage with the sports community on a deeper level. This major allows me to explore the intricate work that goes into organizing and broadcasting sporting events.
Currently, my primary career goal is to graduate. In the future, I aspire to work on the media team of a professional sports organization. Although these goals may seem modest, they hold great personal significance. Overcoming numerous challenges during my college journey has made me even more determined to achieve them. Fulfilling these aspirations will validate the hard work and perseverance I have invested throughout my struggles. A quote that has motivated me during this time is "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." – Pelé
My Experiences
My college journey has been filled with numerous challenges and growth opportunities. One significant learning experience stemmed from undergoing foot surgery a year ago. During my recovery, I had to balance classes, social life, and work while relying on a scooter and wearing a boot for six months. This situation forced me to adapt by working harder and keeping up with all my coursework online, as I was unable to attend classes in person. Through this experience, I discovered my resilience and capability while also gaining insight into the true friendships in my life.
One of the key strengths I’ve developed is my ability to adapt. The challenges I faced during college required me to change my approach and find new ways to succeed academically and personally. These experiences taught me valuable lessons about myself and the kind of person I aspire to be. However, I’ve also recognized a weakness: my tendency to procrastinate. While I perform well under pressure and often produce my best work at the last minute, this habit can also lead to unnecessary stress.
Another important lesson I’ve learned in college is the value of building and maintaining connections. Throughout my time in school, I made it a point to introduce myself and engage with influential individuals in my desired profession. These efforts have resulted in valuable contacts within my field who are willing to offer guidance and open doors to job opportunities.
As I prepare to graduate this winter, one piece of advice I would give my younger self is to not take everything so seriously. I often stressed over minor inconveniences that, in hindsight, didn’t deserve so much of my energy. Moving forward, I aim to approach life with greater patience, enjoying each moment and taking things one step at a time. "Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it." – Charles R.
